USAGE: Japanese Phonetic Description

I'm going to be taking Japanese 101 this quarter, and so far I haven't
been able to find online a close phonetic description of Japanese. Can
anyone help, either with links, book references, or their own
knowledge?
Note that I'm looking for a close (or narrow?) phoneTic description,
NOT a phonemic description. I've found phonemic inventories for
Japanese already. I want to know, for example, whether Japanese /t/ is
more like Spanish or English [t] (I forget the ASCII symbols for
dental and alveolar, but I'll look them up if someone replies with
answers using them :) ). I would like to know the details of
allophones and such, too.
Any help is appreciated!
