Well, if anybody bothered to read my post on Segeul, I decided to put out=
a=20
*simpler* version. So here it comes (and please view with a monospaced=20
font, not a proportional one):
Consonants
----- | ----- ----- ----- | |
| | | | | | | |
| | | ----- | | |---|
| | | | | | | |
| ----- ----- ----- ----- -----
g n d l m b
-- --- ----- --- ----- -----
/ / \ / ----- | |
/ | | / / ----| |----
/ \ \ / / \ / \ | |
/ \ --- / \ / \ | -----
s ng j c k t
----- --- | | | |
| | ----- | |-- | --|
| | --- |-- | --| |
| | | | | |-- | --|
----- --- | | | |
p h a ya e ye
|
| | | ----- ----- |
| | | | | | ----- |
----- ----- | | | |
|
o yo u yu r i
*Notes:
s can =3D /z/
ng =3D /N/
j =3D /dZ/
c =3D /tS/
e can =3D /shwa/
o/u can =3D /w/ (o with a, e; u with i; oi can =3D /o-slash/)
r can =3D /i-bar/
i after certain vowels: ai can =3D /ash/; ei always =3D /e/;
ri =3D /i-bar_i/ (diphthong, as in Russian -bI=FA)
That's 20 symbols in all for 14 consonants and 5 vowels. Big Six phonolo=
gy=20
is pretty much limited to these 19 phonemes, so this would work well. (O=
f=20
course, Latin script would be more used practically, but Segeul would be=20
more descriptive, simple and neutral.)
Note that unlike Hangeul, Segeul is written left to right by character, n=
ot=20
in a square syllabric arrangement. The circle always represents the phon=
eme=20
/N/ ("ng").
