I used to do that with Greek, learned from a friend who was a year
older and already in Greek class. The next year everybody could read
it, so I started to write Tengwar - I've still got some of the class
notes to prove it, with rude comments about the teachers in Tengwar
in the margins.
Valdyan, on the other hand, never was a secret language; everybody is
welcome to learn it. I don't know whether it's any better than
anything else at expressing things, and frankly I don't care :-)
