I wouldn't be surprised if it were because it copied
http://www.revfad.com/flip 's assignments -- that got Dugg at one
point and seemed to kick-start the whole upside-down Unicode meme.
Though I wonder why that site picked that letter; it claimed to be
inspired by a LiveJournal entry of mine, but that entry uses the
letter with hook, rather than bar.
