We have them here in Monterey also. I remember my mom telling me that this
church we used to go to had bats roosting in this kind of attic space
above the altar. I have also seen a few flying around at night.
I didnt have a word for bat, but i decided to make one up. I liked the
idea of calling them "skin wing" since it makes sense to me. So, my word
for bat is: ladontaro. 'Ladon' is the adjective for skin (since skin
describes the type of wing:)), and 'taro' is wing.
