Explanation found: My virus scanner (AntiVir, www.free-av.de) also warns
when it encounters scum -- this is a new function as it seems. However,
deleting a file from a Thunderbird inbox does not really delete it! I've
googled the web and as it seems, you need to delete the file and
reinitialize it by compressing the mail folder with Thunderbird or something
the like so that the MBox file your mails are kept in is updated. I simply
deleted the inbox file, since there were only old digest files from this
list plus some mails from people from the list of which I've got copies
elsewhere anyway.
It *IS*, or at least was possible in earlier versions to get viruses fromm
this list -- when downloading really old archives and extracting them, I got
problems because one file containt the I-Love-You virus or something like that.
