Not to get too graphic, but (at least in Indonesia) one cleans oneself off with
water, applied with the left hand; then presumably wash the left hand. Been
there, done that, eeeeew :-((
But I don't know what they do in the deserts of Arabia etc. where there isn't a
whole lotta water...........
I read somewhere recently (in a discussion of modern Japanese toilets IIRC,
which spray), that water, however applied, cleans the bottom much better than
paper.
