Actually Italiote Greek did go through much the same sound changes as the Romance dialects of southern Italy and Sicily, including the rather odd change [ll] > [d`d`]!

I have been playing around with Italiote Greek becoming the dominant language in southern Italy and Sicily in my Lucus ATL. It occurs to me that a Greek dialect on the Riviera may fit the picture too. IIRC the Perseus Project has a Greek lexicon online.
