In designing Rihana-ye, I began by creating a set of 90 2-letter CV root
words, later expanded to 138 such words. Since all words in Rihana-ye are built
up from these short root words, even combinations of 4 or 5 concepts are not
inordinately long, e.g.
tibomiba chief tax collector (literally high-take-ing-man) , zevaroha modern
language
(now-mind-blow-thing, where varo mind-blow is the word for speak) . I must
admit looking back I think some of my root words may have been bad choices in
that they have ended up being rarely used, and other words that logically would
be basic to a natlang have been created by combination, but over all I am
very satisfied with the system. If I did it again, I might use a more
scientifically selected basic vocabulary--I invented the Rihana-ye out of my head., on
the basis of a few ideas about the conculture (strongly differentiated gender
roles, for example.)
