Eek! What do you translate - the version you get or are you allowed to correct it first? I think I could manage to translate from *proper* Valdyan into, say, Drasel=E9q or Denden, but not from mangled Valdyan. Either way it would probably be awful Drasel=E9q or Denden. <<<<<< Oh, the version you get, definitely. Who's to say that all the "native= " speakers would conform completely to the "prescriptivists"? Especially= those from other dialects, or those who were poetically minded. A "corrected= " version would obviously be of interest, though, afterwards. In fact, if you're= receiving a text in your own lang, part of me thinks you shouldn't even= get an interlinear, just a lexicon of any new terms that have had to be added.= Oh, and on the subject of new words, I'd advise borrowing or calquing f= rom your lang into the recipients lang, where possible (provided your conculture= isn't too conservative to allow this). I know this means we'll all end up wi= th the same word for some things in our langs, but it doesn't mean we're stuck= with them. Just so long as we've got enough vocab (temp or perm) to make it= work. = ************************************************************* This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed.
