Dying languages(OT)

The members of this list may be interested in the August 2002 issue of
_Scientific_American_. This issue includes a major article on dying
languages, why this important, why it happens, and what people are trying to
do about it. It also includes some gramatical/phonolgical trivia about some
of the odder ones. There is also an article comparing the reactions of
neural networks trained on English phonology and those trained on Japanese.
