It's funny to read this whole thread here, because my experiences
have been almost entirely positive.  Though I must admit I don't
advertise the fact that I'm a conlanger, the people who do know about
it have all been supportive, or at least feigned interest.   The only thing
that has come close to "hatemail" was when I'd found that some guy
had put my page up on a list of pages he claims are bizarre and stupid, ones
people should visit them just because of that.  One comment was aimed
at my page being mostly about "exotic languages", but he didn't seem to
say anything substantive about it, one way or the other.  Which is just
as well, I guess.  On the other hand, I've received quite a lot of emails
of people expressing their interest in my work (what's online at least),
some even saying they want to learn it.
