Siyo!
I did calligraphy for fun in high school. It was the
right time. I once filled out a card for something
when I was 13 and received back a letter addressed to
"Clint Zakry". I knew something had to give. I also
had a French pen pal in high school, and our French
teacher so impressed upon us the difference in
propriety between American and French letter-writing
that I actually gave way and adapted some of my letter
shapes to be more European.
Oh, if I could show you my handwriting! I think it's
rather lovely, and I especially love the way I write
my first name. The "C" is narrow, loops down, and
slants heavily forwards. The "t" leans a little
backwards, and the tail comes back over to to cross
the "t" and dot the "i" in one stroke, meaning I don't
lift my pen when otherwise I would lift it twice, and
the name itself has a very rounded feel across the
top, looking something like a dome.
