I have, often. Polenta is sort of like plain white rice: what it's like
depends totally on what it's eaten with, although corn (maize) has a
rather stronger flavor than most varieties of white rice do. It'
typically prepared en casserole and then carved into blocks, one block
per customer.
Polenta and tomato sauce are probably the most important contributions of
the New World vegetables to Italian cuisine.
