"The group of countable things is called ‘hx’, that of uncountable
things ‘y’, for reasons that will become clear in the next paragraph."

Next paragraph:

"The second distinction is that countable things are divided in human
and non-human; the human class is called ‘h’ and the non-human
countable class ‘x’ (all humans are countable, of course). Third, the
human class is split into masculine and feminine: ‘hm’ and ‘hf’."

This is, indeed, quite a find.
