AFA my German teacher told me, 'Samstag' is a French loan, the original
German being Sonnabend. But I'm not sure... she helds that spähen, Fehde and
Helm are of Latin origin simply because they are used also in Italian (as
spiare, faida and elmo) - these Italian words are, OTOH, German-ic loans.
