[snip] Yes, that is the usage I have in mind. Once you go up the scale of "triads", the exact number becomes more vague. A bit like how we write 1,000,000 for any number close enough to a million (close enough as in, the differences are insignificant compared with the magnitude of the number). I suppose you could think of this as simplified, base-3 scientific notation: X * 3^Y. As Y increases, X becomes a less precise number. T -- I am a consultant.
