It is necessary to be of African descent, but there are many people of
African descent who are passing as white, many of whom do not even
know it. There was an article about a woman named Jefferson who
can trace her descent to Sally Hemings and Thomas Jefferson, and who
is going to start listing herself as black even though her family has
called itself white for several generations.

A doubtful case. In general, the label A-A is reserved for descendants of
slaves, not just any old Africans.
