I hate to break it to you guys, but there really _is_
a St. Louis in Illinois! It's right across the river from that
_other_ St. Louis in Missouri. All right, so it's
technically called _East_ St. Louis, but it's a nice town
and it is in Illinois! (On the map it looks like the one city
of St. Louis sprawls over two states).
I stayed there once when I was passing through.
I had been following the Mississippi River up on the
Missouri side. When I took a look at the multi-level
bowl of spaghetti (or macaroni or pasta or --- oops,
sorry; wrong thread! ;-) )
that they call the superhighway at the southern entrance to
St. Louis, my courage withered and I decided to try my
(tired) luck on the other side of the river,
where the road layout was a bit simpler.
I thus found myself in (East) St. Louis, Illinois.
I have nice memories of the place!
