in case anyone actually wants to know, i have a mobile
but no landline. i do almost everything by text
message and save my conversation for when i actually
see people ( with a few exceptions such as family and
whatnot ). mobile phone tarifs in britain as
frequently VERY favourable towards text messages ( i
get several hundred free every month ) but pretty
punitive towards other types of call, so i keep my
costs down that way. i also like the fact i'm using
the written word
as to why i don't use email to arrange my social life
: many of my friends aren't frequent emailers, and you
have no idea when you'll catch them. text messages to
me have the advantage that you can get a message to
someone quickly but without interrupting if they're
doing something important
and finally, mobile phones are EXCELLENT when
rendezvous go wrong !
so yep, despite my initial contempt i'm now a convert.
i don't have a television tho . . .
