Good choice! Zelda 64 is *the* game of the century IMHO.
Actually, I've been playing Zelda for the

I have the same symptoms when I have my console with me (actually it
stayed in France, so I can't play as much as I would like to <sigh>).
But I'm really close to the end, so I'll be

I never played Zelda on NES, but I finished it in two days on Super NES
(well, I played more than 12 hours a day, so that explains how I could
finish it so quickly :) ), and now I have the N64. In fact, even if I
have finished everything, collected the 100 Golden Skultullas, finished
all the quests, collected all the items, won all the games, I still have
fun playing the game and starting it again from scratch! Maybe that's
the sign that it is the best game ever :) (or that I'm completely mad!
:) ).
