I'm not sure what you mean by legal. If you mean in the sense of
"Will I get arrested or charge with copyright infringement if I use
hanzi" then I would have to say certainly not - you can breathe
easy. In fact, for my Bauhinese conlang I'm using hanzi in
additional to a kana-like syllabary devised from hanzi.
