I've often seen it classified as such. According to that idea, Rhaeto-Romance
has three legs: Rumantsch (including Sursilvan etc.), Ladin, and Friulian
(Furlan). Others claim that Friulian is a separate language. I don't know. They
are undoubtedly very different from each other.
