No, seriously, weren't the Ligurians one of those non-IE peoples that inhabited
the region before that part of the world was romanised? Like the Rhaetians and
the Etruscans, who were of course all related to the Basques ;) ?
Funny, I was just watching the same site when you wrote your reply to Thomas'
messages. An extremely interesting language, indeed! Very conlang-like. Quite
different from Corsican, Catalan, Occitan, and Sardinian. Could it perhaps be
closer to Rhaetoromance, especially Friulian?
