I've always heard "drink" used for liquid medicines. I view drink as ingesting a liquid. Sometimes the utensils seem to make a difference though. "Eat" tends to be used for stuff from bowls, while "drink" for stuff from cups. (My dialect is Australian English.) Simon Kissane
