Surely. My 9 y.o. son commented not long ago on how strange
it was that _mod_ 'courage' and _mord_ 'murder' are
homonyms. He wasn't even aware they were spelled
differently, since probably murder hasn't been mentioned in
school texts! :-)
In all fairness it should be mentioned that at least in
Gothenburg dialect the merger product is lamino-
alveolar, BTW.
