It wasn't okay, that's the problem with Lot. He only did one thing
correctly, which was being a nice guy and letting people stay over at his
house, which he learned from his uncle Avraham. Other than that, he
wasn't that nice. It's logical to assume that he incited his workers to
fight with Avraham's, which caused their split in the first place. Lot
offered them his two daughters - even worse.
And yet, the rest of Sdom was so much worse than him that only he and his
family were saved.
