The article implies that he speaks English as well, though perhaps not
fluently. But it would surely be better to communicate with him in
Spanish.
BTW, this article claimed to be exclusive to the Toronto Star, so it's
not just some feature pickup from AP. It might be worth contacting the
writer through the Star, just in case there's other background info of
interest that didn't make it into the story. I can take care of that.
