I'm a Northern English Brit by both birth and accent, and I prefer
/'rEst@rQnt/. It may become /'rEstrQnt/ if I'm speaking quickly, but I
prefer to give it the full three syllables. The final vowel would *never*
be a schwa though.
OTOH, I do say /'lav@tri/ more often than /'lav@t@ri/ (though I think I use
both).
A semi-related note regarding words like "ambulance": I believe I rarely
pronounce the little intrusive T at the end. If anyone tries to tell me
that "patience" rhymes with "patients" I get annoyed. :-) Same goes for
all nasal-fricative pairs, especially "hamster"!
