You can embed fonts in web pages; but the mechanism for doing so has
not been standardized, so it's not widely used. Besides the technical
issues, there are IP ones: Adobe doesn't want you to take one of their
fonts that you have to pay for and put it someplace that anyone can
download it - for free - automatically! - just by looking at your
page.

Currently, Safari and Internet Explorer support one mechanism (but
require different font formats) and Firefox doesn't support it at all.
