Well, Adobe wanting to be paid for the use of their work doesn't
disgust me. They had to pay the artists who developed the fonts,
after all. But like the MPAA and RIAA, they definitely haven't
adapted well to the technological advances in this area. One doesn't
expect people to have to pay for a license just to read a piece of
hardcopy printed with one of their fonts, after all. But the
distinction between display and authoring is difficult to maintain
when the display is via browser. In the absolute it's impossible, in
fact, much like playing music or showing video or sensitive text while
preventing the user from saving it.
