There are people who say exactly that. I wish I could find it, but I
once read an article condemning all representative art because it was
an insult to the subject: it could never be quite as good as God's
work. On the other hand, Tolkien (there he is again; I like his
non-fiction better than his fiction, though) argued very sensibly
that God created Man *in His image* so that Man could also create on
a smaller scale.
