In my university (and it others I've been in), it seems to vary by department;
Maths department seem to *always* have blackboards (though they are sometimes
dark green), even when elsewhere in the university there are only whiteboards.
In addition to how the lecture theatre are equipped, any serious mathematics
department really ought to have blackboards in staff offices and scattered
around the corridors in case inspiration strikes on the way to the bathroom.
(Indeed, why not have the in the bathrooms?)
