That would be /VG/ then, in X-SAMPA. If there's no gap in my
understanding of the IPA - /V/ is in the part of the vocalic
quadrangle that I find difficult. And assuming that "gh" is velar,
rather than uvular.
I've only heard "lough" about 3 times in my life that I remember, and
I think most of them were (mis?)pronounced the same as the Scottish
"loch" (where the "ch" is unvoiced (I hope)).
