I hadn't realized that. It's been a while since i've seen any of the
movies except "Aliens".

That's true. I hadn't really paid that much attention, apparently. So,
since the Navigator was apparently a victim, i'm thinking they crashed
the alien ship to prevent the aliens from getting loose to terrorise
other alien species? Perhaps this ship visited a planet where our
favorite aliens were native, and thinking it was an interesting
species of fauna did some exploring and accidentally got "infected".
Which leads me to wonder what the alien's homeworld is like. If they
are just another animal on the planet, then you can imagine the "arms
race" that other creatures would have to have evolved to prevent
becoming a prey item for incubation.
I can only imagine what these aliens descended from originally.
Perhaps some type of parasitic insect or animal that filled a niche on
their homeworld?
