Joining this thread a little late, image what would have happened
if Constantine had seen a Star of David instead of a cross. "In this
sign conquer..." It would make for an interesting alternate
history--Judaism becoming the state religion of Rome.
Although I should ask, how and when did the Star of David arise as
a symbol? Would it have been a recognized symbol in Constantine's day?
