In that case, why not compare them in IPA (or X-SAMPA)?

Nothing exact, since /st/ is not allowed finally (she says as she quietly fixes "syikavást" in the lexicon *grin*). I do have something close: lesh /lES/ close (in distance). Otherwise I have no exact matches. What we really need, if we want to do this sort of comparison, is a computer program that compares wordlists.
