HA, HA, HA!!! Kash and Kamakawi. Perhaps what they're trying to tell
us is that while we thought we were creating new languages, we were,
in reality, simply recreating Estonian.

Well, last time we had a text as an mp3/wma... Does it eat X-Sampa,
too?? :-)

I think it would treat X-SAMPA as actual capital letters in a language.
Worth a shot, though.
To add to the fun, I did a bunch of nonsense sentences. The results
(copied from my blog):
-Aaaaaaaaaaa aaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaa aaa aaaaa. Finnish. (This is Finnish
for, "And they forged the sampo." I'm certain it is.)
-Anskaldf ewpoir n vck epiwj. Finnish. (This is Finnish for, "Help, I
can't use a keyboard.")
-Bopiawejr ewiope ncbid mnn dkjf. Welsh. (Honestly, I don't think
anyone can look at a random string of letters and say with confidence
that it is or is not Welsh. ;) )
-Tol a ehcyrsneeuq ot netsil i. Czech. (Read it backwards.)
-Abcd efgh ijklmno pqrstu vwxwyz. Polish. (Yeah, that's pretty much
Polish. I bet it was the final "u" in the fourth "word" that did it.)
-Abcdef ghijk lmnop qrstuv wxyz. Maltese. (Compare this sentence with
the last one. Isn't it fascinating to muse that the difference
between this
sentence and the last is the difference between Maltese and Polish?)
-Thisi sju stat estsent ence. Estonian. (Play around with the spaces.
Or, rather, it's Kamakawi, apparently.)
-his angalach; the sousenugh; gnomeosulphidosalamermauderman. Romanian.
(This, of course, is from James Joyce's
masterexiterrifegegibrvsookitabook
Finnegans Wake. Reading through it, though, Romanian doesn't
seem like a bad guess.)
I think if they don't know what to do with a language, they call
it Romanian. And perhaps if they like the language they call it
Estonian. ;)
