I fed Xerox and Languid.cantbedone the following text from my Tanala archives:
Enya renyarazre siritse! Se Sieratyi. praratrashya-siritse?
Kebofutyo-siritse?
Trans: What a bitch! The Firelight. Essentially exotic? Utterly exotic?
(Grammar: re- and -re are intensifiers. If they are both together, and the
word is not an exclamation, it means "the x-est" - it may be attached to both
nouns and advectives; if its noun is coupled with an exclamation words such
as "enya" how/what! it has the meaning of "What an X!". Siritse is a word
covering a wide area - its most basic sense is "community"; it also means the
essential character of a thing, ergo "nyaraz" woman/female human/speaking
being, "nyaraz-siritse" the essence/character of being female as opposed to
being male - also "the sisterhood", the females it pays not to get on the
wrong side of.)
Xerox - Catalan
Languid - Spanish
So they were working on frequency of syllabic structure? Ie, which vowels and
which consonants fitted together, and how often?
That's the impression I get.
