I'll only quote P Heron Odiosos, for the understanding of this "predictive astrology" in the Eastlands of the World: "They write many books and their histories be full of this or that astrologer who predicted a comet for a general, saying it will be his doom, and he then sends all his legions and armies into battle and they are defeated because they know their general is doomed. They [the Westerners] be also known to study the more reliable science of reading portents in the Earth herself or in the beasts that roam her woods or fly the air or swim the waters; the skills and intuitions of which our [Eastern] Wise have also learned and honed finely: for what better to enlighten the future of earthlings than a thing of Earth and not a thing of the heavens!" For what it's worth, in the World, the Zodiacal Era is 2100 years in length and are named for the twelve signs of the zodiac [arias, pesqas, apwarias, qafrencqurnur, sajitarias, iscorpion, libras, wirjin, leon, qanqar, jininar, torras] and twelve of them make up an Hipparchian Age, which are 25200 years each. Forty of them [pwerncas, lufur, sedura, camfur, pineton, lefur, tontas, tumulas, menta, canas, grannon, montar, caspas, wulpas, nicar, flumin, acarnon, perwas, jephurullas, riwullas, qamellas, isqiurellas, fluwias, wallas, fercas, murrullas, fulgur, nemur, laricas, draccon, furican, fagas, leon, furisniwas, balanellon, wermiqullon, paliqon, aballon, musqajiftas, and nimbullas; which Plodios renders into our tongue as: oak, wolf, calm, plains, pine, hare, thunder, hills, mint, hound, hail, mountains, grass, fox, snow, rivers, maple, deer, breeze, streams, reed, squirrel, rain, vales, birch, mouse, lightning, forests, larch, dragon, whirlwind, beech, lion, blizzard, corn, worm, dew, apple, dragonfly and cloud] make up an Age of Stars, at 1008000 years. The current Star Age is Calior; the previous eight named ages are Xora, Staram, Pashto, Marakan, Azrael, Fanam, Uzara, Marax. Generally discredited by philosophers, there are some folk in the World who claim it may have been created as many as twenty such ages ago. The commonly used calendar is not based on this more sensible system (though some local and regional calendars are). In the Great West, after the death of archmage Agustas, the Senate innaugurated the new count of years. So year 1 is in fact the 87th year of the Pesqas zodiacal era. The "Ages of Man" or "Ages of the Sun" spoken of in this new system are arbitrarily set. The First Age is set as 100000 to 40000BCE; the second 40000 to 12000BCE; the third from 12000 to 5000BCE the fourth from 5000 to 1BCE. Currently, this is the 2003rd year of the fifth sun. The intervals are not regular, but are based on cultural/archaelogical rationale. A curious system of philosophy holds that this fifth age will soon come a bloody end with the destruction of Man. As you can see, the Ages are increasingly shorter. No one takes them seriously, of course. What's funny, though, is that these are the philosophers who are, in fact, doomed to be right. Today is the twentyfifth day of Dinzemril (Yule), 2003 (7 Jan 2004, Gr); the 2090th year of the Pesqas zodiacal era in the Pwerncas Hipparchian Age in the Calior Star Age. This ninth age began 4190 years ago, upon the passing of the Torras zodaical era, the Nimbullas Hipparchian age and the Xora Star Age. So much for astrolgy! Cosmologically: "The Heavens be a great bowl in space that contain all the substance of the universe and in which exist the Sun, the Earth, the Moons of the Earth and the other heavenly bodies: the moveable and fixed Stars, the Comets and the meteors. At the center of this sphere of the Heavens rests the Sun, which be a great fiery ball that radiates light and warmth to the whole of the cosmos. Around the Sun revolve the seven planets and the sphere of the fixed Stars; and also the Comets. The planets revolve around the Sun at different rates or velocities; and each is composed of different substances. The substance of the Sun is that of pure Fire: for she burns mercilessly, and no substance of Earth can withstand her intense heat without burning away into nothing. The substance of the planets is mixt: being well proportioned in all the elements and substances. Within each of the seven planets there be a great heart of Fire, which causes it to move and which generates a part of its warmth. The middle parts of the Earth, that is, the planet we inhabit, are made of Water and Earth, which be the oceans and seas and also the lands of the World. Above all be the bowl of the Sky, which contains the vapours of the clouds and the air all living things breathe. The Sun whose light gives us our Day, is hidden from sight during the night for the sphere of the Earth lies between the Sun and our vision; and it be during our Night that the lands upon the other side of the Earth have their Day." &c - &c - &c Padraic. ===== la cieurgeourea provoer mal trasfu ast meiyoer ke 'l andrext ben trasfu. -- Ill Bethisad -- <http://www.geocities.com/elemtilas/ill_bethisad> Come visit The World! -- <http://www.geocities.com/hawessos/> .
