IIRC not as thoroughly as Quenya and Sindarin, but he certainly invented quite
a few things about Westron and Adunaic (its ancestor). We know for instance the
basic structure of those languages (consonantal roots with vowels having only a
grammatical meaning, yes, Tolkien admittedly was influenced by Semitic
languages), some words and derivations (principally names, but not only) and
some peculiarities of the Hobbit dialect of Westron (who is said to be
archaising).
I find it funny, and quite a good idea, that the language which is translated
in English in LotR has in fact a structure quite unlike English and other
Germanic languages :)) .
