I think this should be "And Chomsky answering saith unto them", which is the
phrase used in the KJV when Jesus really routs his opponents (verbally).
"Answering" in this phrase perhaps preserves some small echo of its
Old English meaning: and-swerian (inf.) 'swear against'.
