I'm no Chomsky flag-flyer but I think the basis for TG is to demonstrate the processes that operate (realised in the academic world by Phrase Structure Grammar, etc) which enable us to acquire and manipulate language. Mike> > I just wish I could understand what Noam's saying for once.
