On balance I think you're right.......So, I'm going to use "target" and
"standard". Can't imagine where I heard the Latin terms, perhaps some
obscure ling. article years ago, maybe something in XIX C. Dutch/Indonesian
studies...... or maybe in a dream :-)))))
