Bah. This is nothing. This is, believe it or not, a *very* slow month. Usually we get between 75-100 messages a day (although it looks as though with Christophe back, we're quickly ramping up to that again. :) There is a way to filter out some of the noise, however. If you go to http://listserv.brown.edu/archives/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=conlang&A=1 you will see a section marked "Topics"; if you want to reduce the amount of traffic you receive, uncheck "Chat" and "Ot". Of course, this depends upon the kindness of your fellow conlangers to mark their messages appropriately, which (9 times out of 10) they don't. :) In short: check your email at least once every day (otherwise your inbox will implode into an extremely dense singularity from the combined mass of the sheer number of messages) and become good friends with your delete key. :) In parting, let this be your mantra: "Upon responding to a thread, I will update the subject line accordingly, so that others may know what the topic *really* is about. And I shall avoid as a plague all threads that discuss English pronunciation, which is infinitely varied and chaotic, and therefore pointless to discuss. And I do solemnly swear to write all my message in Dutch, the official language of CONLANG." Once again, welcome to the list! Please keep your hands and feet inside the vehicle at all times and hold tightly to the bar in front of you. Should you feel discomfort at any time, close your eyes until the feeling passes. Enjoy the ride! :Peter -- Oh what a tangled web they weave who try a new word to conceive!
