No, but nothing beats Metafont when it comes to ligature handling, IMO! It
is relatively easy to hack one's own ligtables for other people's
characters, either directly in Metafont or as Virtual Fonts, if you like
another input transliteration. To tell the truth I'm quite satisfied with
inputting/screenviewing transliteration and getting the real thing!
Also if printing with TrueType/Type1 should go afoul in a WP, TeX could
still be relied upon.
