Old joke was "Why the Irish use Boss" so they did not have to
use master, like the other slaves..

Irish in mass, moved to the US in the 1850s often as indentured
servants, a condition that was little more than slavery. .

But never know, Master and Boss are easier for non-Europeans to
say? There as an influx of Japanese (of all things) and Chinese
and Indians (from India) from c.1700 to 1900.

Does raise a question, how we differentiate different forms of
something, to preserve our egos, but also cause of mother
tongue, some words are used over others.

Such as how many English words come out sounding wierd when said
by Koreans or others. I expect it goes both ways.
