Certainly not [q]. Way back in the early 80s or so, I heard a series of
programs produced by Alaska Public Radio-- "The things that were said of
them"-- folk tales from the Aleut region. (Lovely stories!!) The title and
brief bits and of course proper names were given in the Aleut language and I
loved the wonderfully "dry" sound of their /q/. (It's a very un-Kash sound,
unfortunately, but I've used it in Gwr.)
<rant>What a pity NPR no longer broadcasts interesting things like that (not
to mention off-beat concerts and univ. lectures from all over the country),
preferring to be Washington-centered, 24/7 news org, CNN-wannabe.</rant>
