Actually, Descartes uses the proof of his own existence to prove the
existence of God, and the proof of the existence of God to prove the
existence of everything else. So basically everything hangs on his proof of
the existence of God, which is demonstrated in a way I disagree with :) .

I suppose you meant "weren't perfect" :) . And I agree he was beyond
solipsism. The only problem is that the arguments he uses to get out of
solipsism depend on a wealth of other assumptions he makes that he doesn't
articulate. And thus his goal of a philosophy that doesn't depend on a
single assumption that may be reasonably doubted on is missed :) .
