I had an extremely frustrating similar experience a few years ago. I was
actually working on a symphony at the time (which has since gone
nowhere), and I dreamt that it was complete and that I was hearing it
and looking at the score. When I woke up, all I could remember was this
incredible chord, but I lost it before I could figure out what it was
and write it down. Despite the fact that I am heavily involved in
composition, I am notoriously incapable of figuring out how to write
something just by hearing it. Sad. It makes these kinds of dreams really
suck. :(
